FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES

Service Provided to Family members over 18 who are living with the stress of drug or alcohol misuse in the Blanchardstown area. A support service designed to support people affected by drug or alcohol misuse in their families. There are currently five support groups in Blanchardstown. The aims of the service are: to build capacity and empower local families of drug users through the provision of a fund for group activities of a developmental nature which builds on life skill, conflict management and awareness. To provide family support fund for direct work with families of drug users to enhance the role of family support groups as part of the Blanchardstown Family Support Network. To provide an aftercare fund for development/progression of those in aftercare or rehabilitation from the Blanchardstown Area. To acknowledge the link between the positive impact the progression of the drug user in the family has on the wider community.

The service is aimed at Male & Female 12 – 24 years Catchment Area Dublin County. Teenagers must be experiencing difficulties as a result of parents’ separation. The Service aims To help the teen to express feelings about separation. To help teen maintain good relationship with both parents if possible. To help teen to look ahead to life in changed family circumstances.

The service is aimed at Any parent with a child or children under 5 Living in the Mulhuddart and Tyrrelstown areas. Lifestart is a home based service and is facilitated by trained family visitors.Lifestart aims To empower, encourage and educate fathers,mothers and others who parent in the holistic development of children, with particular emphasis on the newly born to age five years. To raise awareness of parenting as crucial in the development of community. To enable parents to make informed relevant decisions about the upbringing of their own children and to empower them to give effect to these decisions. Lifestart also aims to provide information, professional and peer support and to alleviate isolation.

The Primary Care Teams are multi-disciplinary teams operating in the community. A Primary Care Team is made up of a variety of staff e.g. Nurses, Physiotherapist , Occupational Therapist, Community Mental Health Nurse, Psychologist, Social Worker, Speech and Language Therapist, participating General Practitioner’s and Administrative Staff. Services differ across Primary Care Teams but usual services include: Advisory service Prevention and Education Work One to one key working Groupwork (where need is identified) Clinical nursing care Child Health Assessment (0-4years) Parenting support (0-4 years) Counselling (short-term) Outreach Referral on to long- term services where necessary Services are provided in a clinic or at home

The family support service is a flexible, practical home based service for children and families. The service aims to promote and improve the well-being of children and their families by providing practical and emotional support.

The service is aimed at Males & Females of All Ages Living in the Greater Blanchardstown Area-from Phoenix Park to borders of Meath and all areas in between. MABS provide money and budgeting advice for those
who are in debt or in danger of getting into debt. MABS are an appointment only service. MABS aims to provide advice and support to those who are in debt or in danger of getting into debt and to provide debt prevention and budgeting education where appropriate.

GENESIS PSYCHOTHERAPY & FAMILY THERAPY SERVICE

The service is aimed at Males & Females of All Age Groups. The Catchment Area is Dublin 15. The service is aimed at Male & Female Any Age Group. The Dublin Office covers all of Dublin. Anyone who is affected by a crisis pregnancy can contact the service-the woman herself, her partner, family member etc. CURA provides a range of supports and services to women dealing with an unplanned pregnancy.
We also provide counselling and support services for the baby’s father and other family members at any time during pregnancy. The service aims to ensure that every woman who is unhappily pregnant has immediate and easy access to the help she needs.

TOFE SCHOOL COMPLETION PROGRAMME

The service is aimed at Males & Females Aged 5 – 16 years Living in the Mulhuddart and Corduff Areas. The School Completion Programme is a Department of Education & Science initiative that aims to have a significant positive impact on levels of pupil retention in primary and second level schools. 1 To engage students who are at risk of dropping out of school in our projects.
